Having recently moved to Charlotte, NC, and being a lover of all things ACC basketball, I decided to go out last night for the full Duke-UNC experience. It verified what I’ve been told: This is city is extremely pro-UNC.
What I saw were about 60 UNC fans at the bar, exactly three Duke fans (one of whom had a penchant for standing up, screaming and putting up the rock hands every time the Devils scored), and one biker gang (the local chapter of the Renegade Pigs, to be exact).

Scheyer face!
So, as you can imagine, the crowd was quite upset when Duke ultimately one. And as Charlotte Observer’s Scott Fowler pointed out, the game was flawed. But for different reasons than Fowler seems to think.
“The action Wednesday night in the Smith Center was fierce, frantic and flawed,” Fowler wrote this morning. “It wasn’t a Duke-UNC classic, though. It was too one-sided for that. No. 2 Duke is simply a better team than No. 3 North Carolina right now, and that’s with or without Ty Lawson playing.”
I love when writers make statements like this, and back it with absolutely nothing. I mean, how can Fowler -- or anyone -- possibly assume that Duke is better than UNC with a healthy Lawson? The game is completely different with Lawson playing, which is the real reason why last night’s contest was flawed. Without him, Hansbrough can have his best game of the season (as he did last night), and the Heels still lose.
But enough of this serious sports talk. We have more important things to worry about. Like a criminal from Duke on the loose and wanted for “general douchebaggery.” This is a serious crime, often punished by withholding Jager Bombs and designer jeans from the offender for six-to-eight months.
