Billy Packer, Joe Buck: America Disapproves of You

By Chris Mottram
If you’re reading this, then that means you likely read blogs, which means you’ve certainly seen (and probably participated in) Deadspin’s Media Approval Ratings. If you aren’t familiar, quick recap: Each day Will Leitch writes a quick blurb about a given member of the sports media, then presents his readers with a simple “approve”/“disapprove” poll question.

Dicky V and his Duke love just barely slipped out of the bottom five.
Jason at BallHype has organized all the results thus far, and you can filter them by sport, network, approval percent, and vote totals. Brilliant! As of today, here are the best/worst sports media personalities according to America (and by “America,” I mean Deadspin readers).
Top Five, Best to Worst:
1. Erin Andrews (95% approval)
2. Vin Scully (95%)
3. Scott Van Pelt (93%)
4. Gus Johnson (90%)
5. James Brown (88%)
Bottom Five, Worst to Best:
1. Billy Packer (10% approval)
2. Stu Scott (13%)
3. Mitch Albom (13%)
4. Joe Buck (22%)
5. Jim Gray (29%)
In my mind, the entire list is pretty spot on, although my personal bottom two would be Joe Buck and Mike Patrick. Although you can’t argue with Packer and Scott being basement dwellers. And if you’re wondering where Stephen A. Smith is, keep in mind that there are more ratings posts to come.↵
