Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from games to gear.
If I wasn’t about to walk down the street to watch the Sweet 16 here in Charlotte, this would be the best news I’ll hear all day. Kyle Chandler, the actor who plays Dillon coach Eric Taylor on NBC’s Friday Night Lights, tells David Bianculli of TVWorthWatching.com that the show will be returning for a third season.

The coach is the one in the middle, for those wondering.
All that was left, (Chandler) said Wednesday, was to “dot the i’s and cross the t’s.” He was scheduled, and planning, to report back to Austin in June, he said, to start filming season three on location.
Star-Ledger TV guru Alan Sepinwall delivers news that NBC will hold its Upfronts 6 weeks early, so the super serial official word of a Season 3 pickup for FNL could come as soon as next week. And it’s about time; the confetti I’ve got ready above my desk is getting dusty. I’m almost certain there’s a family of birds up there, too.
