More Stats: Easiest and Toughest Defenses

Now that we have a few weeks in the books, we can begin to assess which defenses are most user-friendly and which should be avoided when you’re deciding who to start and who to sit. When it comes to which defenses are the easiest to run on, the Texans, Bucs, Browns, Panthers, and Raiders are tops in the lead (in descending order). The five toughest run defenses are the Ravens, Titans, Dolphins, Niners and Saints.

When it comes to passing the ball, look forward to your quarterback and receivers going up against the Jaguars, Cardinals, Lions, Titans and Bills (who have recently lost three-fourths of their starting secondary). The five stingiest pass defenses have been the Giants, Broncos, Eagles, Vikings and Jets.

Remember: matchups matter. So keep these rankings in mind when you’re considering whether you should play Darren McFadden (yes) or Fred Jackson (no) this week.
