Sam Bradford's injury remains the focus of today's 16-13 Texas win over Oklahoma, but the Longhorns' quarterback also suffered an injury. Colt McCoy hit his hand against a helmet and injured his thumb. From Dallas News:
Longhorns Quarterback McCoy Injures Thumb, Claims ‘It Didn’t Impact My Throwing’
Turns out, McCoy hit his right thumb on the helmet of Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy early in the game. It left him with a bruised and battered fingernail. On top of that, McCoy had been ill for much of the week.
"It didn't impact my throwing," said McCoy, who was 21-of-39 with an interception. "My fingernail is about gone. I guess I'll have it checked out by the doctors."
McCoy, who threw for only 127 yards and looked out of touch in the first half, sounds as though he’s not overly concerned, but this injury deserves close attention.
