Fantasy football maven and pickup artist Matthew Berry has his latest add/drop list out, and a few names stick out. Some slightly under the radar adds Berry highlights that we agree with are WR Sidney Rice of the Vikings and WR Mohammed Massaquoi of the Browns. Mike Sims-Walker is probably already owned in your league (right?), but these two former second-rounders are both in potentially very favorable fantasy situations.
More Add/Drop: Because There’s Never Enough
First, consider Rice. While Adrian Peterson will continue to dominate the gameplan (and inexplicable commercials), look for teams to continue to stack the line like the Packers did, and dare Brett Favre to beat them through the air - especially in the second part of the season (where Favre has been miserable the last few years). Rice has scored in two straight, and looks to be the second option in that passing offense.
Massaquoi, meanwhile, could be the beneficiary of both Derek Anderson taking over in Cleveland, and Braylon Edward’s seemingly annual disappearing act. The big-armed Anderson can get the ball down the field, and the struggling Browns figure to be airing it out quite a bit as they trail most games. Massaquoi figures to draw plenty of targets if he can secure a starting gig in Cleveland, which should translate into a decent spot start option.
Rounding out the list of adds for this week is obviously Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall. The chastised former first-rounder apparently got the message after his Week 3 benching for not knowing the game plan, and shredded a suspect Chargers defense last week. A few notes of caution: while turf toe does linger, Willie Parker will be back at some point (and mostly likely relatively soon) this year, and the Chargers have been an abysmal run unit without space-eating DT Jamal Williams. Sell high on Mendenhall to an owner enticed with his potential. If you keep him, count on him being a matchups-worthy play, as he shares carries with Mewelde Moore and Parker.
