On Friday in the SB Nation offices, a lively debate arose about whether one of our interns should start Brent Celek on his fantasy team. And by lively, I mean only the intern, himself, cared, and most of us were trying to tune out the conversation altogether. What’s the lesson there? Nobody wants to talk about someone else’s fantasy team.
Brent Celek Gets The TD. Wait, Who?
↵But here’s the thing: we all knew who Brent Celek was. Somehow, fantasy football has created this weird system by which marginally talented players like Brent Celek, who scored a few minutes ago for the Eagles, are universally recognized. Mainly, for their ability to score touchdowns and help your fantasy team.
↵And even though he’s probably not the most talented guy in the league, Brent Celek becomes just as famous as, say, Hines Ward. Or Arizona’s Tim Hightower, master of the two-yard goalline touchdown, becomes as famous as someone like San Francisco’s Frank Gore, even though Gore’s exponentially more talented.
↵I have no idea what any of this signifies… But it’s something, right? And more important, aren’t you excited to learn I started Brent Celek this week?!
