Gus Johnson: ‘He’s Got Running From Cops Speed!’

Oh, Gus. You excitable, excitable man. If it were anyone else, this remark might be considered offensive—and I wouldn’t be surprised by negative fallout—but after Chris Johnson broke off a 52-yard touchdown run a few moments ago, Johnson exclaimed:

↵↵He’s got getting away from the cops speed!

↵↵

It bears mentioning: If Gus were white, this would almost certainly become a controversy. It’d prompt apologies from Gus, press conferences from Chris Johnson to accept that apology, and possibly a suspension from CBS. But since Gus Johnson is awesome, it’d be great if we could avoid that.

↵

Besides, we’re talking about Chris Johnson, here... That guy is FAST. Getting a little carried away is understandable, no?

↵UPDATE: We originally reported Gus Johnson said “He’s got running away from the cops speed,” instead of “getting away.” You say tomato, I say amazing run...
