On Monday, Big Cat Country reported that Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis was undergoing an MRI on his groin, after injuring it during the Jags' 24-22 win over the New York Jets last week.
Jags’ Rashean Mathis Out For Sunday’s Game With Groin Injury
The results did not satisfy Jag’s coach Jack Del Rio and he announced Mathis’ will be absent on Sunday.
“He won’t play this week,” Del Rio said. “It could be a little while. With Rashean, he’s proven over time to kind of beat the prognosis. Some guys just heal quickly and Rashean’s been that kind of guy for us.”
Losing Mathis, the team’s top cornerback, is a particularly devastating blow for an already struggling secondary.
