Week 9 Add/Drop: Deep In The Depth Chart Of Texans

OK, hands up if you’ve pilfered some of your kids Halloween candy while they were sleeping. Come on, come on, admit it! I’m not the only one, am I? That would be awkward.
ADD

Ryan Moats - When Steve Slaton put the ball on the turf for a fumble, Gary Kubiak turned to Ryan Moats. Moats turned in a 126 yard, three TD performance. Kubiak hasn’t said that Steve Slaton will definitely be back at RB1, and even if he does, it will be hard for the Texans not to give Moats some carries. He might even vulture some goal line carries. If you’re desperate for a back this late in the season, Moats should be available.

Joel Dreesen/James Casey - With the season-ending injury to TE Owen Daniels, Dreesen becomes the new starting TE in Houston...for a week. After that, TE James Casey (who is undergoing knee surgery) becomes the starter. Probably. Man, this situation just fills you with confidence, doesn’t it? While these guys aren’t the same talent as Daniels, sometimes a guy just needs an opportunity. Lose Plaxico Burress, gain Steve Smith. Lose Terrell Owens, gain Miles Austin. Both of them could be huge waiver wire busts, or one could be a decent fantasy tight end.

Kelley Washington - The Ravens aren’t the second coming of the Colts just yet, but any team that puts up 30 points against Denver should be taken seriously. Washington’s four catch, 58 receiving yard day was a solid performance against some of the better defensive backs in the league. He’s a career journeyman but you never know when Derrick Mason will get injured or decide to retire so he’s worth a look.
Matt Moore - Panther QB Jake Delhomme went to the hospital suffering from a “chest contusion” but was soon released. Unfortunately, he may be released from his starter’s role as well. The Panthers have been looking for a way to politely bench Delhomme for a while, saying that Jake needs some “time to heal” is a good way to get Moore in the lineup for “just one week”. Of course, when it comes to quarterback replacements “one week” has a way of leading to another and then another and the next thing you know you’re on the bench while Tom Brady is holding the Lombardi Trophy. So keep that in mind Delhomme owners.
DROP
Patrick Crayton - Does the fact that the Cowboys completed passes to TEN different receivers concern Patrick Crayton owners? It should. QB Tony Romo is falling in love with guys like Miles Austin and leaving good old standby Crayton behind. It’s kind of sad, really. Crayton did run a kick back for a TD on Sunday, but if your league scores that as a “team” category there’s no reason to keep him around.
Willis McGahee - Hey, didn’t he lead the NFL in scoring a few weeks ago? Why yes, yes he did. And with seven touchdowns he’s still among the league leaders. The problem is that he has completely disappeared from the Baltimore rushing game as the Ravens have been relying on Ray Rice. McGahee has a total of 11 rushing yards -- yes, eleven -- over the past four games including a combined total of ten carries for 0 rushing yards in the last three games. That would be a terrible rushing line for a quarterback let alone somebody you would start as a fantasy running back.
Jason Campbell - I mentioned him as a drop last week, but since the Skins were on bye this week it’s worth mentioning again. Washington’s next four games are against Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Philadelphia. With fans threatening to turn FedEx Field into a giant protest rally, how long can Dan Snyder go before somebody has to pay?
