Some Friendly And Not So Friendly Defenses

Fantasy football is all about matchups. With so many poor teams this year, taking advantage of decent players in great matchups is more important than ever. No, this doesn’t mean you should bench your studs, but with so few teams employing a featured back, finding advantageous matchups for lesser backs can be key. Here are the most user-friendly pass and rushing defenses on the year to date:

User Friendly Pass Defenses

  1. Tennessee Titans
  2. Atlanta Falcons
  3. Cincinnati Bengals
  4. San Francisco 49ers
  5. Kansas City Chiefs

Comments: Playing against the Colts and Texans certainly skews stats against the Titans, but make no mistake, they’ve been abysmal. Cortland Finnegan and the rest of the secondary are beginning to get healthy, but the Titan’s problems go deeper than that. Continue to start quarterbacks and receivers with confidence against Tennessee...Turns out the Falcons may miss Brian Williams quite a bit....The Bengals attracted some attention earlier in the year for shutting down big names like Greg Jennings, Braylon Edwards, and Derrick Mason, but even then they were giving up big chunks of yards to other players. Without Antwan Odom applying the heat, the Bengals’ secondary has been a bit exposed...The Chiefs secondary is about to get even worse

User Friendly Run Defenses

  1. Buffalo Bills
  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. Tampa Bay Bucs
  4. Oakland Raiders
  5. St. Louis Rams
Comments: The Bills made a journeyman like Ryan Moats look like a star last week...Even Matt Forte and the Bears, with their awful offensive line, were able to wrack up numbers on the ground against the Browns. And yes, this means that you should sell "high" on Forte. Now. Right this minute...According to Football Outsiders (via Buc'Em), the Bucs have the worst defense in the league, and much of their poor play is a result of one of the poorest defensive lines in football...The Raiders specialize in making second backs like Ahmad Bradshaw and Shonn Greene fantasy gods...After trading Will Witherspoon two weeks ago, the Rams' defensive front seven is actually weaker than it was at the beginning of the year.
