The college basketball slate for late Saturday afternoon doesn’t feature as many ranked teams as the first set of games for the day, but there are three particular games of note.
Saturday Late Afternoon College Basketball: Mississippi State And UCLA Tussle In Anaheim
- Oklahoma travels to Utah, hoping for a repeat of their 18-point win in Norman last season. The big difference this year is the Sooners don't have Blake Griffin at their disposal. Willie Warren and the boys have won four straight, but they'll be challenged by a Ute squad who had an easy time with Michigan on Wednesday. SB Nation's Oklahoma blog, Crimson and Cream Machine, and Utah site, Block U, both have previews of this one.
- In the second game of the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Mississippi State takes on UCLA. With Drew Gordon gone, the Bruins will struggle with the Bulldogs' interior force, Jarvis Varnado. UCLA also hasn't won in Anaheim yet this season, dropping all three of their games in the 76 Classic Thanksgiving weekend. Be sure to check out Bruins blog, Bruins Nation, and For Whom the Cowbell Tolls, representing Miss. State, for more on this one.
- Marquette and 20th-ranked Wisconsin meet for state supremacy in Madison. If the Badgers win, you'll have to put an asterisk next to that already unofficial crown, as they lost at Green Bay Wednesday night, and have yet to meet Milwaukee, a team the Golden Eagles defeated Tuesday. SB Nation's Badger site, Bucky's 5th Quarter, has a preview of this one up.
As always, you can find live scores and discussion threads here on SB Nation.
