With all sorts of lists coming out with the end of the year and the decade upon us, Forbes has released their best and worst NHL fans for 2009. They compiled attendance from the past season, television ratings and merchandise sales to create an overall rank of all 30 NHL fanbases. The Forbes website gives the top five best and the top five worst fanbases and the list is:
Forbes Identifies The Best And Worst NHL Fans
↵Top Five:
↵1. Pittsburgh
2. Toronto
3. Philadelphia
4. Montreal
5 tie. Chicago
5 tie. Minnesota
5 tie. Detroit
↵Worst Five:
↵26. Nashville
27. Tampa Bay
28. Phoenix
29. Atlanta
30. Florida
↵There is a trend with the bottom five in that they are all apart of the southern United States. Litter Box Cats, our Florida Panthers blog, has a slight beef with how the Panthers and their fans are being portrayed:
↵↵Numbers can’t be argued with, so a childish he said-she said cannot be employed, but as a Panthers fan, do these silly lists even bother you any longer?
↵To be a fan of this club is to proudly sport chainmail and moon boots: the armor protecting your fleshy areas from ignorant ridicule, the footwear for traversing endless miles of BS laid in our collective path.
↵Year after playoffless year, the dedicated base of several thousand continue to show up, tune in, and care. What more can be asked?
↵↵No matter how well liked a team is, their passionate group of fans are going to defend their teams as they should. No person wants to be told that they aren’t supporting their team enough.
