Posada’s Homer Not Enough to Save Yankees Stadium Grand Opening

Johnny Damon notched the first hit in the new Yankees Stadium during the bottom of the 1st, but it was Jorge Posada who tallied the first homer, crushing one to dead center in the 5th:↵

↵Not pictured: Grady Sizemore’s grand slam, the first in the new ballpark, which came as part of a nine run 7th inning for the Indians. The bullpen’s implosion, after CC Sabathia put up a respectable one run over 5 2/3 innings performance, led to chants of “we want Swish-er.” Joe Girardi did not oblige. The Yankees lost 10-2. Not the ideal opening for the Yanks’ new monstrosity.
