Bobby Labonte Gives Dallas Fifth Grader a Lift to School
After being inducted to the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame on Wednesday, Lone Star native Bobby Labonte gave back to his home state by visiting Liberty Elementary, a local Dallas Fort-Worth school, to donate $10,000 worth of free computers on behalf of his primary sponsor, Ask.com. Liberty Elementary was selected through the Ask.com Safe Search Schools program that rewards institutions who demonstrate creative ways of teaching Internet safety.
"It’s great to come home to Texas and see children my own kids’ ages engaged in learning about and safely exploring the worlds available to them online," said Labonte.
In addition to the donation, Labonte gave fifth grader Johnny Gregoriou ultimate lunch room bragging rights by picking him up at his house and driving him to school in an Ask.com Ford Fusion.
"Pulling up to the school in the Ask.com car was awesome because all my friends were outside yelling and waving to me," said Gregoriou. "But they really went crazy later when I told them I actually ate breakfast with Bobby and my name was on the car!"
