As If You Needed It, More Proof The Raiders Are Completely Dysfunctional

Yahoo Sports just posted an excellent piece from Michael Silver that serves as a follow-up item to the Tom Cable-Randy Hanson dustup on Aug. 5 that left Hanson with a broken jaw.↵↵Michael Silver’s account of recent Raiders confrontations is not surprising in volume, but the details of some of the incidents certainly reinforce the worst things people already believe about the organization and owner Al Davis.↵

↵↵2004: Then tight ends coach John Morton berated tight end Teyo Johnson for a mistake. Johnson got into Morton’s face and either chest bumped him or pushed him, depending on who you believe. As the tight end exited the field, Davis allegedly told Johnson, “Teyo – you can’t win ‘em all.” Morton was let go before Johnson.↵

↵↵2005: Oakland DBs coach Martin Bayless becomes “enraged” with Stanford Routt after refusing to go in on a field goal rush unit. Bayless “jacked him up into his locker and shoved him down,” a witness told Silver.↵

↵↵Other details in the report seem to reinforce what you could gather from previous incidents, like the fact that Randy Hanson, he of the broken jaw, isn’t exactly loved in the Oakland locker room. He’s described as a “snitch” by one player from 2007 because of his tight relationship with owner Al Davis.↵

↵↵In other words, until the Crypt Keeper gets in that golf cart and drives away from the field for the final time, never to return and interfere with the Raiders, this team will continue to be a running gag.↵
