After garnering zero interest from NFL teams, Pacman Jones has decided to take his game (and impressive list of extracurricular activities) to Canada. He signed a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers late Monday night. He’ll join the team on Wednesday.
Pacman Jones Headed to Great White North
For the 26-year-old Jones it gives him a chance to prove himself on, and off, the field as he looks to someday play in the NFL again. For the Blue Bombers of the CFL, it gives them publicity, as demonstrated by the fact that I’m writing this story right now. From John Murphy, the team’s director of player personnel (via SI):
“And at the same time it’s a business decision as well as football decision. From a marketing standpoint, a business standpoint and a football standpoint, I could go to 100 NFL training camps and every preseason game and more people will hear and know about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the next two weeks -- from the coverage we’ll receive -- than in the last 10 years.”
Ha, Canadians think we have 100 NFL teams.
