Untitled Update

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora was called out during a film session Monday by defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan. His reaction was to leave the Giants training facility without telling anyone.

Later realizing this was not the most constructive way to handle criticism, Osi returned and apologized publicly (via Big Blue View):

“I made a mistake by leaving the facility today. I was wrong. I came in here this afternoon and met with coach Coughlin, coach Sheridan and coach Waufle and apologized and explained why I left the building; that will remain between us. I have no problem with our defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan or any of our coaches. That’s the end of it, as far as I am concerned.”

The thing is: that might not be the end of it. He’ll almost certainly be fined and may be benched for the final preseason game. Which is weird, actually. Wouldn’t it be a bigger punishment to force Osi to play all four quarters?
