Surprise! It’s John Madden! I’m not sure that Madden is necessarily the most qualified adviser on league matters Goodell could have hired, or whether Madden’s spot is purely ceremonial, but this sounds like quite an undertaking:
Meet Roger Goodell’s New Advisor
↵↵The league announced Thursday that Madden, who retired as a broadcaster earlier this year, would advise Goodell on “matters pertaining to the game, including competitive issues, coaching and personnel development, technological innovations, player safety, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”
↵↵Goodell’s not actually interested in Madden’s opinion on any of those things, right? He’s just being nice to the cheerful old guy in the sports coat, right?
