The lunacy quotient is getting ramped up to the nth degree in the Ben Roethlisberger sexual assault civil suit. Now that both sides have taken turns rejecting the other’s offer to put an end to the case, the long knives are coming out.↵

↵↵Roethlisberger’s defense has included a bevy of compromising facts about Andrea McNulty, not limited to her proposed engagement with a fictional soldier over e-mail, one who was created by the wife of a man McNulty was having an affair with. All together, they’ve painted a public picture of McNulty as at best duplicitous and at worst downright deranged.↵
↵↵As part of a filing made late Tuesday by Calvin Dunlop, the Reno attorney representing McNulty, a request has been made for list of all of the women Roethlisberger has ever slept with and whether any have ever made any claims of sexual misconduct.↵
↵
↵Of course, had their ever been any such claims against Roethlisberger, you probably wouldn't need to do that much digging to find out about them. No, this about getting all the potentially embarrassing information about him out there. Dunlop has also offered to drop the case if Roethlisberger were to apologize and donate $100,000 to the Committee to Aid Abused Women. This was likely done to create an impression that McNulty was the magnanimous party in the suit, but with this filing practically coinciding with that one, that strategy may have already failed.↵
↵↵Whether the suit is eventually dropped or does in fact drag painfully to trial in a year, the legal histrionics are still in full swing. The fact that the plaintiff is bringing them full bore in the days leading the start of the regular season, however, signals a desperation to get a settlement done as quickly as possible. ↵
↵↵UPDATE: Roethlisberger’s legal team is firing back hard with more statements allegedly written by the accuser.↵
