Brian Galliford at SB Nation’s Buffalo Rumblings had immediate reaction to the loss last night, which surprisingly involved less tears that we would have imagined:
Bills Fans Journey Through the Five Stages of Grief
The Bills have now dropped three consecutive MNF games in the final seconds. In 2007, the Dallas Cowboys pulled out a last-second win by the same score. In 2008, the Bills missed a field goal as time expired to drop a 29-27 decision to Cleveland. Tonight, they completed the trifecta.
If you’re looking for a word from me, it’s “numb.” I’m thrilled with the way the team played, and so, so incredibly frustrated that this young team is still lightyears away from knowing how to close out games. We’ll have time to digest in the morning. For now, express your grief in the comments section
And express their grief they have. In fact, it seems they’ve gone through all five stages:
Denial: “My face is on fire. I can’t believe that just happened again.”
Anger: “Growing up in Pittsburgh I could easily root for the winningest franchise in NFL history, but NO, I root for the lowly buffalo bills whose coaching staff sucks and primetime performances let us down year after year.”
Bargaining: “If someone would of told Bills Nation that we’d have the ball with :50 secs left and 2 time outs at our own 20….well we would have been ecstatic.”
Depression: “I seriously want to cry. I hate this team and what they do to me.”
Acceptance: “It means little. 1 out of 16 … so get over it! We probably won’t go 18-1 for the season, but that’s ALL this unfortunate result tonight means RIGHT NOW!”
