Astros Fire Manager Cecil Cooper One Day After Being Elimited From Playoff Contention
More from the Houston Chronicle:
Third base coach Dave Clark will serve as interim manager the final 13 games of the season.
"Cecil Cooper has given his all to the Houston Astros," general manager Ed Wade said in a statement. "Decisions like this are never easy, but we believe that a change in a direction on the field is in order."
To further add insult, Cooper not only lost his job, but also his Brewers single-season RBI record, which was broken by Price Fielder on Sunday in the game that ultimately sealed Cooper’s managerial fate.
