It’s been conventional wisdom for a while to refer to the Pittsburgh Steelers as a smash-mouth running team. But statistics would disprove that argument. Lately, the Steelers have been a pass-heavy offense. Their rushing attack ranks 28th out of 32 teams. Not good, and if you own Willie Parker or Rashard Mendenhall, you already know this. Coach Mike Tomlin says he wants an offense that can beat you in a variety of ways. But he did say he wants to get Mendenhall more involved based in his performance last week.
Steelers No Longer a ‘Running Team’
↵↵“I really don’t believe [Mendenhall’s] lacking confidence at this point. He got an opportunity to play and he delivered, which is what we expected him to do and really what I think he expects to do. I think as we continue on he’s going to get more of those opportunities and he better produce more of those plays.”
