Fantasy Friday: Team Reports from SB Nation
First up, the Cincinnati Bengals courtesy of Cincy Jungle.
Carson Palmer - In two games this year, Carson Palmer has recorded three touchdowns against four interceptions; ironically, his final 2009 touchdown to interception ratio. Once the the passing offense gets their timing back, there’s expectation that Palmer could be a quality fantasy football starter. However, against the Steelers, Palmer has never recorded more than 300 yards and in his last three starts against Pittsburgh, he’s recorded only three touchdowns combined.
Chad Ochocinco - Much like Palmer, Chad Ochocinco hasn’t seen much success against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since 2003, Ochocinco has recorded a total of three touchdowns and the last time he reached 100 yards or more receiving, was all the way back to November 30, 2003. On the other hand, Chad has rededicated himself, recording 180 yards receiving on nine receptions and a touchdown through the season’s first two games.
Chris Henry - Even though Chris Henry has created mismatch problems against the Steelers in the past, he’s also dealing with a quad injury he suffered against the St. Louis Rams in the preseason. So far this season, Henry has two receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown. With his injury and Chad Ochocinco, Laveranues Coles and Andre Caldwell ahead of him, it’ll be difficult for Henry to get consistent playing time.
Cedric Benson - Through his first two games, Benson’s 217 yards rushing ranks sixth in the NFL and third in the AFC. Benson faced the Steelers twice last year, combining for 87 yards rushing on 30 carries. If the Bengals commit themselves to the run and remain competitive throughout the game, Benson will get the bulk of the team’s carries.
Bengals defense - Thanks to Antwan Odom, the Bengals lead the NFL with nine quarterback sacks through two games. Of the three fumbles they’ve forced, one was recovered and the team hasn’t forced an interception yet. The Bengals defense, a very young, talented group of players bringing high hopes, will face their biggest test with a Steelers offense that’s historically beaten the Bengals on the ground.
