Via Deadspin comes this post from conservative publication National Review Online’s Jay Nordlinger, who is just convinced that sportswriters pepper their columns, blogs, et. al. with liberal remarks to prove they’re just as “virtuous as their colleagues on the news desk.” Realistically, a more common complaint -- at least within sportswriting circles, perhaps not among fans -- is that sportswriters don’t talk about politics enough. Instead, because sports are ostensibly a safe haven, they avoid it even when sports become political. (Think of when a town is forced to cough up tons of cash for a stadium it doesn’t need in the name of municipal investment.)
I Have No Idea What This Guy Is Talking About
↵↵Which is all a long way of saying that Mr. Nordlinger must not read much sportswriting -- liberal or conservative, as if either existed -- because I have absolutely no idea who, or what, he’s talking about.
