Ichiro Suzuki recorded his 2,000th hit this afternoon. Considering he entered the league when he was 27, and is now only 35, this is a huge achievement. If he stays at his present pace, he’ll reach 3,000 hits in five more seasons. Unfortunately, he’s not much of a bases on balls guy, so he might find a way to become the first Hall of Famer to post a career batting average higher than his career on-base percentage. Impossible? He’s Ichiro Suzuki. He’ll find a way.
