Aroldis Chapman, the 22-year-old pitching phenom from Cuba, has been chased after by several teams over the past few months. On Sunday morning, Jeff Passan reported that Chapman has agreed to sign a $30 million deal with an NL Central team, and the arrow seems to be pointing to the Cincinnati Reds.
Report: Mega-Prospect Aroldis Chapman Agrees To Sign With NL Central Team, Rumored To Be Reds
The Cincinnati Reds were “going after him like crazy,” according to one source, and an agent who does not represent Chapman said he had signed with the Reds.
If Chapman does sign with the Reds, the team is adding another young arm on a pitching staff full of them. Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto have come into their own, and many believe that Homer Bailey has yet to show his full potential.
