Ed Reed On Ravens Defense: ‘The Swag Don’t Leave’

There were many reasons that the Ravens beat the Patriots on Sunday. Most of those reasons start and end with Ray Rice, but there was also the Ravens’ ability to run the ball at will on third downs, Tom Brady’s overall ineffectiveness, the lack of a New England running game, Brady’s four turnovers, etc. Those last three examples were a direct result of Baltimore’s seemingly rejuvenated defense. And their swagger, of course.

↵↵On how Baltimore got its swagger back on defense after a rough start ... “The one thing about this defense - The swag don’t leave, man. Ain’t never gonna leave. The swag was here when I got here, before I got here, and it’ll be here when I leave. That’s what we’re built on. That’s the tradition we have. And we’re gonna keep fighting that way.”

↵↵Indeed. The swag does not leave. Somewhere, Fake Scoop Jackson smiles.
