Al Davis cares nothing for your opinion. Despite earlier reports that the Raiders’ idiosyncratic owner would dismiss head coach Tom Cable on Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the two have yet to meet, with no known date set, and no word on Cable’s future with the team. Per Schefter, Davis and Cable could meet as soon as Wednesday, however. Basically, nobody knows anything.
Tom Cable Does Not Meet With Al Davis On Tuesday, Status Uncertain
SB Nation’s Silver and Black Pride echoes that sentiment, pointing out that the fact that Cable has not yet received the ax could be a sign that Davis will keep him on for another year, especially if some of the Raiders’ big-name players backed Cable. Of course, there are counter rumors that Cable will be out the door shortly, and speculation has already begun on possible replacements. NFL.com reports that a source close to the team named Packers assistant coach Winston Moss as a possible frontrunner for the head coaching gig if Cable is fired. Moss interviewed with the Raiders last year and is reportedly still on the team’s short list of candidates.
Stay tuned. With the Raiders, it’s anyone’s guess.
