San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Billy Volek’s touchdown pass to Mike Tolbert with 35 seconds to play lifted San Diego over Washington, 23-20, at Qualcomm Stadium.

Volek finished 19-of-30 for 216 yards for the Chargers (13-3), who ended the season with their 11th consecutive victory.

Malcom Floyd led all receivers with nine receptions for 140 yards while Antonio Gates also recorded a TD catch for San Diego, which locked up the second seed in the AFC.

Philip Rivers played most of the first half and was 9-of-15 for 99 yards and one touchdown.

Jason Campbell went 28-of-42 for 281 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Redskins (4-12), who finished the year dropping six of seven and posted their worst record since a 3-13 mark in 1994.

Mike Sellers and Todd Yoder each recorded a catch for a score and Malcolm Kelly had five catches for 109 yards in a losing cause.

Graham Gano’s 25-yard make capped a 69-yard, 14-play drive which consumed over 7 1/2 minutes and gave the Redskins a 20-16 edge with 4:33 left in regulation, but the home team was not to be denied.

The Chargers forged ahead with 35 seconds to play, as Volek hit Tolbert for a two-yard touchdown, a score which capped a 12-play, 58-yard march.

Craig Davis appeared to have scored the go-ahead touchdown with an 11-yard reception on 2nd-and-4 from the Redskins’ 12, but replay determined he did not get the ball over the pylon before heading out of bounds. After Michael Bennett was dropped for a loss on first down, Volek found Tolbert to put the Chargers ahead.

Campbell threw four straight incompletions before Volek knelt to run out the clock.

Nate Kaeding’s 47-yard field goal capped San Diego’s opening drive, then a 12- yard touchdown connection from Rivers to Gates on the Chargers’ following series made it 10-0.

A 24-yard make by Kaeding early in the second quarter provided a 13-point edge for the home team, then Yoder’s two-yard TD catch on Washington’s ensuing drive cut the visitors’ deficit to 13-7.

An 84-yard pass to Kelly set up a three-yard score to Sellers with 39 seconds left in the half to put the Redskins ahead by a point at the break.

Gano’s 22-yard field goal gave Washington a 17-13 edge early in the third quarter, and Kaeding countered for San Diego with a 45-yarder early in the fourth for a one-point contest.

San Diego has won three in a row over Washington dating back to 2001...The Chargers racked up 364 yards of total offense and the Redskins posted 339.
