Campbell threw four straight incompletions before Volek knelt to run out the clock.
Nate Kaeding’s 47-yard field goal capped San Diego’s opening drive, then a 12- yard touchdown connection from Rivers to Gates on the Chargers’ following series made it 10-0.
A 24-yard make by Kaeding early in the second quarter provided a 13-point edge for the home team, then Yoder’s two-yard TD catch on Washington’s ensuing drive cut the visitors’ deficit to 13-7.
An 84-yard pass to Kelly set up a three-yard score to Sellers with 39 seconds left in the half to put the Redskins ahead by a point at the break.
