Marquette 62, No. 12 Georgetown 59: Golden Eagles Dominate On The Perimeter
January 6, 2010 – Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) – David Cubillan was 6-of-6 from three-point range for 18 points, as Marquette took down 12th-ranked Georgetown, 62-59, at the Bradley Center.
Lazar Hayward posted 12 points and 11 rebounds for Marquette (10-5, 1-2 Big East), which had suffered back-to-back losses by a combined three points to open Big East play.
Dwight Buycks added 10 points and Jimmy Butler nine points, six boards and four assists. Both Buycks and Hayward added two makes from beyond the arc, as the Golden Eagles finished 12-for-26 from long distance to help overcome an overall 38.9-percent shooting effort.
Austin Freeman had 20 points and six assists for Georgetown (11-2, 2-1), which had won three straight games since suffering its only previous loss of the season to Old Dominion.
Julian Vaughn scored 12 points and Greg Monroe nine with 10 rebounds. Chris Wright also chipped in nine points. The Hoyas made only 4-of-12 from long distance but shot 48.9 percent overall.
