Big East And Big Ten Action Highlights Early Wednesday Night Hoops Slate

The Big East and Big Ten dominate early Wednesday evening college basketball action.

  • Four top 15 Big East clubs are in action, with three of them -- sixth-ranked Villanova, eighth-ranked West Virginia and No. 12 Georgetown -- facing key conference tests. The fourth, seventh-ranked Syracuse welcomes Memphis to the Carrier Dome. Unranked Louisville, fresh off a loss to Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass, is also in action at Providence.
  • Two ranked teams clash in the Big Ten, as 10th-ranked Michigan State looks to for a 2-0 conference start against No. 17 Wisconsin, a team that's already grabbed two quick league wins.
  • Another game to watch is 16th-ranked Tennessee's home contest against Charlotte. The Volunteers will be without four of their top eight players, including stars Tyler Smith and Cameron Tatum, after their arrest on New Year's Day on misdemeanor drug and weapons charges. The visiting 49ers already own a road win at Louisville.
  • Top-ranked Kansas welcomes Ivy League favorite Cornell to Lawrence in another early evening tip.
