I think it’s safe to say that last night’s Celtics-Heat game is on the short list of best games of the 2009/10 season. Maybe it wasn’t always pretty in the first 45 minutes of the game, but those last three minutes were something else.
Highlights And Fan Reaction To Last Night’s Celtics-Heat Thriller
The most impressive thing to me is how Boston kept bouncing back. I’m not going to make one of those “that’s what champions do” points, but could you think of any other team who could a) rally from the fourth-quarter deficit they faced on the road against a good team, b) execute a perfect inbounds play with .6 seconds left to get to overtime and c) still have enough to win in OT after all of that? SB Nation’s Celtics Blog writes the same thing, comparing the rollercoaster of last few seconds to the Celtics’ entire 2007 offseason.
Both were great examples of why you can never give up on a game or on a season or on a team. You just never know what could happen next and sometimes that old cliche of “its darkest before the dawn” proves true once again.Meanwhile, Heat fans over at Peninsula is Mightier, SB Nation’s Heat blog, are distraught.
This felt like a giant reminder of what the Heat are trying to become. They couldn’t hit anything down the stretch when Boston hit seemingly every big shot. The Heat couldn’t draw up any good looking plays when they needed to score, and Boston was coming up with amazing yet easy looking plays. It’s just sickening how they can play so well for so long and still blow it. Games like this are why basketball is nowhere near my favorite sport. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but any sport where you can play awesome for 95% of the game and still lose is just no fun for me. Way too often do teams who are leading by double digits crumble in literally the final seconds...then what is the point of busting your ass for the first 3½ quarters? I know I’m just venting, and if you disagree with me of course I understand. Here are some highlights of the game, so you can relive the excitement.
