The day before opening their two-legged, aggregate-goal series with Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas still has some significant question marks around their lineup.
Major League Soccer Playoffs: Unsettled FC Dallas Faces Off With Real Salt Lake
Although Kevin Hartman has been practicing for almost two weeks, coach Schellas Hyndman has been reluctant to name him the starting goalkeeper despite backup Dario Sala suffering his own injury in the season finale.
“No, that will be a game decision,” Hyndman said. “I think we’re definitely leaning in one direction but we’ll make that decision on gameday.”
Of course, maybe Hyndman is just being coy with his goalkeeper situation.
That does not appear to be the case at right back, where Heath Pearce's availability has been in question since he was hurt during training on Monday. Pearce has not been practicing regularly this week and Zach Lloyd has been mostly taking his place with the first team in practices. Jackson Goncalves is also a possibility there.
Hyndman has also toyed with the idea of switching to more of a standard 4-4-2 with Jeff Cunningham and Milton Rodriguez paired up top, but that has apparently been scrapped.
Official starting lineups: FC Dallas - Hartman, Jackson, Loyd, Ihemelu, Benitez, Harris, Hernandez, McCarty, Chaves, Ferreira, and Rodriguez.;
