Redskins running back Clinton Portis was injured last week against the Eagles causing him to leave the game. His replacement, Ryan Torain, to rush for 70 yards on 18 carries.
Fantasy Football Week 5: Clinton Portis May Be Out Against The Packers
So will Portis be back in your fantasy football lineup next week against the Packers? Don't count on it.
Speaking to 106.7 The Fan, Portis suggested he wouldn’t be playing on Sunday because of a groin injury.
“I don’t think the team would even let me attempt to go and play on Sunday,” Portis said to co-hosts Mike Wise and Holden Kushner. “But who knows.”
This is an easy enough fix: Grab Ryan Torain off the waiver wire.
After the last two weeks, he’s probably already been snatched up but Torain would be a decent start in place of Portis. He’s shown he can handle the load and can at times be just as (if not more) effective than Portis.
It sounds like Portis won’t be out long, if he does indeed miss Sunday’s game against the Packers, but groin injuries tend to hang around for a while. His health should be closely monitored for the rest of the season.
