Ohio St. Vs. Florida: Former Hoops Powers Collide On Voyage Back To Top

A closely contested game for about the first 30 minutes, but a 13-3 run midway through the second half helped propel Ohio State to its second win against Florida since the Gators defeated the Buckeyes in the 2007 NCAA Tournament championship game.

Ohio State freshman Jared Sullinger was a force in the paint, scoring 26 points on 13-of-17 shooting and snatching 10 rebounds. His third slam of the night put the Buckeyes ahead 69-60 with about nine minutes remaining.

That was about as close as Florida would get down the stretch. Both teams shot the ball well, with Ohio State shooting 62.9 percent and Florida finishing at 61.2 percent.

Kenny Boynton went five-of-eight from three-point range to finish with 21 points for Florida. Erving Walker had 15, while Chandler Parsons and Vernon Macklin respectively scored 13 and 12 points for Florida. David Lightly matched Sullinger’s 26 point total on 9-of-11 shooting for Ohio State, while William Buford added 16 points and Jon Diebler had 14.
