Juan Uribe, Dodgers Nearing Agreement On Three-Year Contract

It's been less than a month since veteran infielder Juan Uribe helped the Giants beat the Rangers in the 2010 World Series, but now it appears the 31-year-old is headed for a division rival down south.

According to Buster Olney, Uribe is nearing an agreement with the Dodgers on a three-year contract. Salary information is not yet known, but one expects Uribe to earn a good chunk more than the $3.25 million he pulled home in 2010. To make room, the Dodgers will probably non-tender Ryan Theriot and install Uribe as the regular second baseman.

Uribe batted just .248 last season with the Giants, but he slugged .440 and drove in a career-high 85 runs. He’s posted a. 755 OPS over the past three years and has proven himself capable of playing second, third, and short, giving him some versatility value. While the upside is slim and Uribe isn’t about to break out, he is a steady performer who could bring a charge to the LA clubhouse.

You can read more on Uribe and the Dodgers over at True Blue LA. It would most definitely appear that one of the better available infielders is now off the market.
