Earlier on Monday, word quickly spread that Juan Uribe was approaching a three-year contract with the Dodgers. Ken Rosenthal has now confirmed the report, and adds that Uribe’s deal will be worth $21 million - $7 million per season.
Juan Uribe Contract With Dodgers To Be Worth $21 Million
It’s an expensive upgrade for the Dodgers, but it is an upgrade, which will at the very least help them in 2011. Uribe, who is capable of playing around the infield, will take over as the regular at second base.
For Uribe, this will be a hefty raise from the $3.25 million he made in 2010. His previous high was $4.5 million in 2008 with the White Sox.
For the Giants, they’ll now begin searching for other options at shortstop, and names that could end up on their list are Miguel Tejada and Jason Bartlett.
