NFL Picks Week 15: Houston Texans Vs. Tennessee Titans

The battle of the NFL's best press boxes will take place in Week 15 when the Houston Texans travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans. Most figured at the beginning of the season that this would have playoff implications but with both teams limping in with 5-8 records that's not the case anymore.

NFL odds say the Titans are 1.5 point favorites which is somewhat surprising to me. The Texans, despite their faults, are still a team that can score a lot of points. They’re the ninth ranked scoring offense in the NFL -- seventh in passing and seventh in rushing -- and have scored more than 20 points in six consecutive games. That’s more than the Titans can claim as they’ve gone over 20 points just twice in the last six games.

The Texans biggest weakness is their pass defense -- and it’s a big one. They’re last in the NFL in defending the pass but that fits in nicely against the Titans weakness, which is passing the ball. They’re the 30th ranked passing offense in the NFL. The Titans, as they have all season, would prefer to rely on Chris Johnson and the running game.

Though the Titans are favored in this one, I’m taking the Texans. Houston’s season can be summed up in this stat -- they’ve come from behind four times this season when down 14 points to tie or take the lead only to lose all four games. I don’t see Tennessee’s offense getting ahead in this one so I’ll take the Texans by a field goal.
