It appears that the Tim Tebow Era has truly begun in Denver -- and that it will last for at least three weeks. After getting his first NFL start against the Oakland Raiders over the weekend, Tebow has been pegged as the likely starter as the Broncos' season slumps toward the finish line.
Tim Tebow To Start Again Vs. Texans, Possibly Chargers
Broncos QB Tim Tebow to start Sunday against Houston, and presumably last game vs. SD, too.
So Tebow will continue to get a chance to prove his critics wrong, though most of those people will point out that he’s going to do whatever he does on a team under no pressure to do anything other than finish the season. But with the draft coming up, the Broncos have to find out as much as they can about what they have in Tebow.
This week's start is actually not going to be the toughest test for Tebow if he starts the next two games. The Texans are 30th in the league in total defense and rank last against the pass -- though they're actually 9th against the run. The Chargers, meanwhile, are first in total and passing defense and third against the run.
In his first start, the former Florida star was okay -- 8-of-16 passing for 138 yards and a touchdown, good enough for a 100.5 rating. He also ran for 78 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The passing touchdown was Tebow’s second of the season, and he has four rushing scores on the season.
