Monday Night Football, Jets Vs. Patriots: New England Enters As Favorites

The New England Patriots and New York Jets are preparing for what might be the game of the year. Arguably the NFL's two best teams will square off on Monday Night Football pitting their identical 9-2 records against each other. The Patriots enter the game as a four point favorite over the Rex Ryan's Jets, according to NFL odds.

This one has plenty of NFL playoff implications. The winner has the inside track to winning the AFC East and No. 1 seed in the AFC while the loser is looking at the top wildcard spot.

One of the Patriots two losses this season came at the hands of the Jets in Week 2, 28-14. The key to that game was the Jets winning the turnover battle, 3-0. New England only put up 52 rushing yards while the Jets passed 100.

The game moves to Gillette Stadium where the Patriots are 5-0. But that shouldn’t necessarily be a significant advantage since the Jets know how to win on the road -- they’re 5-0 away from New York this year.

The Patriots have the top ranked offense in the NFL and the Jets have the fifth ranked defense. There's a lot to like about the matchups in this game. The quarterback edge clearly goes to Tom Brady and the Pats but it's Rex Ryan's defense that people will be focusing in on. How they respond to the loss of Jim Leonhard, and to Brady in the passing game will likely decide this game.
