Iowa Hawkeyes receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos was arrested on Tuesday after a search warrant at his home turned up marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs. The warrant was the result of an ongoing drug drug investigation by police in Iowa City. Johnson-Koulianos was charged with multiple counts of drug possessions, as well as keeping a drug house. The senior wide receiver was released from jail Tuesday night after posting $8,000 bail.
Derrell Johnson-Koulianos Arrested For Drug Charges, Suspended From Iowa Football
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz confirmed the suspension in a statement released to the media.
“I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges. Derrell has been suspended from all team activities,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement Tuesday evening.
Johnson-Koulianos, the Hawkeyes all-time leader in receptions and receiving yardage, was suspended from team activities as Iowa prepares for the Insight Bowl. The senior wide receiver was named to the All-Big Ten first-team after catching 46 passes for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010.
