Ain’t No More ‘Aints

In case you hadn’t heard or yet been bludgeoned by the resulting schmaltz, the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, which effectively exorcised all negative energy from their home city and cleansed the historically pessimistic fan base of negative thoughts.
Lest anyone forget that for a long time the franchise was an NFL laughingstock, and that fans even celebrated that identity, there will be a ceremonial jazz funeral for the derisive ‘Aints nickname tomorrow in New Orleans. Because the Saints are champions now! No time for grousing, they have parading to do!
⇥Fans are encouraged to bring their old Aints paper bags and place them⇥in a coffin. After a brief ceremony, the second-line funeral procession⇥launches from d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen Street), winds into Treme, then⇥circles back to d.b.a.I can understand the giddy thrill of shaking off a loser’s identity, but c’mon, that stinks of inviting bandwagoners. You must embrace that you were once lovable losers, or else you run the risk of being just as obnoxious as any other champion. I suppose that is the sad fate of the winner: they forfeit character once they achieve success.
