New York, NY (Sports Network) - The Kevin Durant show continued on Saturday night in the Big Apple, as the third-year forward scored seven of his game- high 36 points in overtime to propel Oklahoma City past New York, 121-118, spoiling Tracy McGrady's debut with the Knicks.
McGrady Scores 26 In New York Debut, Knicks Fall To Thunder In OT
Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to score at least 25 points in 27 straight games. Allen Iverson reached the magic number in 27 consecutive contests during his MVP 2000-2001 season.
Russell Westbrook added 31 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds for the Thunder, who have won eight in a row for the first time since a nine-game run early in the 2004-05 campaign. Jeff Green tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds for the victors.
McGrady, a former scoring champion, totaled 26 points and five assists. New York acquired McGrady on Thursday in a three-team swap with Houston and Sacramento. New York, which freed itself of about $32 million in salary cap space, received McGrady's league-high $23 million expiring contract from the Rockets as well as Kings point guard Sergio Rodriguez.
McGrady started and went 10-of-17 from the field.
David Lee paced the Knicks' offense with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Eddie House, who was also making his New York debut after the Knicks acquired him from Boston in exchange for Nate Robinson, added 24 points and five rebounds off the bench. It wasn't enough as New York lost for the sixth straight time to tie a season-high skid.
