Lindsey Vonn will race in Friday’s slalom event despite breaking her pinkie in a crash during the first run of Wednesday’s giant slalom.
Friday’s event is the final women’s alpine discipline. Vonn will be looking for her third medal of these Games. She previous won a gold and bronze, but failed to reach the podium in her last two events.

The second run of Wednesday’s Women’s Giant Slalom has been postponed because of heavy fog. It is now set for Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl is the leader, with France’s Taina Barioz in second, just 0.02 seconds back. Kathrin Zettel of Austria is in third.

Lindsey Vonn suffered a broken pinkie on her right hand when she crashed hard on the first run of Wednesday’s Giant Slalom, according to NBC News. It is unknown whether she will compete in Friday’s Slalom competition.
In the first run of today’s Women’s Giant Slalom, Vonn spun out of control and fell hard on her hip, injuring her hand in the process. She was seen afterward with ice on the pinkie, and was due for an X-ray. “I got a little bit too inside and lost my outside ski. My knee came up and hit my chin. ... I don’t know honestly how I hurt my hand.”

Lindsey Vonn took a nasty spill in the first run of Wednesday’s Women’s Giant Slalom, meaning their will be no medal for the American skier (at least not today).
Vonn, who was leading, lost control about half way down, spun around and fell hard on her hip, injuring her finger in the process, too. The mountain itself did not do her any favors, said a beat up Vonn afterward. .

Lindsey Vonn will not add to her medal haul in the Giant Slalom.
SI’s Winter Olympics cover girl crashed in the middle section of the course, losing control on a right turn and landing on her left hip after twisting around, according to NBC Sports. Personnel checked Vonn out on the course -- she reportedly hurt her right hand -- but she did manage to ski down to the bottom after a few minutes.
