Wayne Rooney Suffers Right Ankle Sprain

The injury to Wayne Rooney was finally revealed Thursday, and it was learned he has minor ligament damage (aka an ankle sprain) to his right ankle which is a relief because there was speculation that there was a fracture:

The club is not saying how long the striker will be out, but Rooney is expected to miss at least a month of action during the stretch run of the English Premier League. If he misses only a month, Rooney will be back in action to face Sunderland on May 1.

It’s still an injury and it’ll still require rehab and close monitoring from the Manchester United training staff, but it seems Wayne Rooney and the English National Team have averted the worst-case scenario. The superstar striker will likely be out just 2-4 weeks according to Sky Sports:

And for soccer fans, it’s the best of both worlds, really. On the one hand, Rooney will miss a crucial stretch of Manchester United’s title run, a serious blow to the title chances for soccer’s New York Yankees. So that’s good. But what’s more, England’s best player will be back in time for the World Cup, ensuring that the British won’t have any excuse for their inevitably disappointing finish in the World Cup. So...
