Good news for the Bobcats as they make their franchise's playoff debut -- forward Stephen Jackson likely won't miss any games, after an MRI didn't reveal any structural damage in his knee, according to an official tweet from the team.
Bobcats’ Stephen Jackson Has Bone Bruise, Injury Likely Won’t Sideline Him
Jackson hyperextended his knee during the team's Game 1 loss to the Magic, and sat out the final nine minutes of the game as a precautionary move. Although Jackson vowed to play the rest of the series, the Bobcats had him undergo the MRI on Monday, which only showed a bone bruise, with which the team lists him as day-to-day.
Jackson’s presence figures to be key for the at-times offensively-challenged Bobcats, who are going up against the league’s second-best defense in the Magic, anchored by likely Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard. As SB Nation’s Rufus on Fire notes, the team should feel good about the fact that Jackson was able to play much of the second half, despite his gimpy knee, while putting up 18 points (albeit on 18 shots).
Jackson will have until Wednesday to recuperate, when the Bobcats and Magic square off in Game 2, at 7PM.
