WEC 48 Results: Jose Aldo Dominates Urijah Faber To Retain Featherweight Title

In the evening’s main event former champion Urijah Faber had no answer to Jose Aldo in any area. Aldo dominated the fight using a steady volume of leg kicks and by the second round it was clear that Faber was having trouble even standing. Aldo continued throughout the fight to switch between attacks to the body and leg to confuse Faber.

Starting late in the third round Faber was dropped every time Aldo landed a kick to the thigh. This pattern continued into the fourth round where after Faber was knocked down Aldo went to the ground and put him in a crucifix where he landed a barrage of punches and elbows. The referee chose to allow Faber to continue into the fifth and final round which was the slowest in terms of activity but still one controlled by Aldo.

Not much action happened on the ground until a scramble during which Henderson grabbed Cerrone’s neck with a deep guillotine choke. Henderson locked it in and Cerrone had no option but to tap.

WEC 48 Results: Shane Roller Submits Anthony Njokuani In First Round

Shane Roller squared off with Anthony Njokuani in a battle of hyped lightweight prospects. The bout was sold as an old school battle of striker against grappler and it played out exactly that way.

Roller ran across the ring immediately and began working for a takedown. Njokuani was able to defend the takedown briefly but eventually got taken down and Roller was in Njokuani’s half guard. It was a quick pass to mount and then back control. Once Roller had the back he continually worked for a rear naked choke while holding on with a body triangle. Eventually he was able to get the arm under the chin and sink in the choke for the submission.

WEC 48 Results: Scott Jorgensen Gets Revenge With Decision Victory Over Antonio Banuelos

In a rematch of one of the better fights of the last few years Scott Jorgensen avenged his controversial decision loss with a clear decision victory over Antonio Banuelos.

Banuelos was able to land good combination punches and several hard left hands en route to winning the first round. In the second and third Jorgensen was the fresher man and began to use small head movement and more disciplined striking to take the fight over. In the third round Jorgensen landed a nice straight punch that dropped Banuelos. Scott followed him to the ground and spent the majority of the round in back control doing damage.
