You have to hand it to Brandon Roy - the dude’s a gamer. And yes, I know that’s a cliche, but it’s true. Roy’s been in pain all season and yet he’s played through it so many times. But after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee eight days ago, it appeared Roy would finally have to sit down for good.
Brandon Roy Officially Not Human, Will Play In Game 4 Just Eight Days After Surgery
Well ... not so fast.
TNT’s Craig Sager just reported on air that Roy is going to start in today’s Game 4. That’s right, Roy will start just eight days after having surgery. I hate to go all hyperbole on you, but has there ever been a more shocking return from injury than this? Sure, Willis Reed did it in the NBA Finals, but ... uhh ... he didn’t have surgery just eight days before. That’s a pretty important detail, don’t you think?
Hello ladies. Look at your man. Now look at Brandon Roy. Now back at your man. Now back to Brandon Roy. Sadly, he is not Brandon Roy.
UPDATE: Despite what was reported, Jerryd Bayless was the starter at shooting guard. Roy is still active though.
