The original news on David Beckham’s torn achilles injury was that he was going to miss the World Cup, but he would be back in the MLS around August or September. That timetable has been extended, because his injury is taking much longer to heal then expected and Beckham will not be fit to play until November. The only way he would be back with the L.A. Galaxy is if they are in the MLS playoffs.
David Beckham Will Likely Miss Entire MLS Season With Achilles Injury
“I won’t be running for another three months, so I will be playing again in, probably, November,” Beckham said in a video posted Monday on ABC’s website. Beckham was still on crutches Monday when he went to the studios of “The View.”
“My mentality is to kind of push it and get moving and running and soon as possible. But it’s an injury that has to take time to heal, It’s frustrating. It’s obviously disappointing because I’ve been working for the last two years to get into the English squad (for the World Cup).”
If Beckham is dead set on returning to soccer the next time he would be realistically on the pitch will be in March of 2011 in a 2012 European Championship qualifier against Wales, and that will be contingent of him even making the English national team.
